About Me
My Background
Based in Walthamstow, north-east London, I’m an early-retired headteacher with 20 years of experience in primary education. I have a BSc (Hons) in Physical Electronics, Post Graduate Certificate in Education with Qualified Teacher Status (PGCE with QTS) and National Professional Qualification in Headship (NPQH). I’m a former national magazine and newspaper journalist and magazine editor.
I am Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checked.
My Expertise
Trained at Bath Spa University, I have extensive classroom experience at Years 2 to 6, always judged Outstanding - including by Ofsted. I am a former Maths and English Leader, Advanced Skills Teacher and Local Leader of Education My experience also includes one-to-one and small group teaching within school to boost children who need extra help and extend and challenge those with higher attainment.
Personalised Sessions
(Please note, I currently only have daytime spaces - eg for home tuition/Zoom sessions to different time zones - and have a short waiting list.) Whether tutoring for the 11 plus or working with primary or early secondary pupils, my sessions are designed with each child’s needs at the forefront. I carry out age-related assessments to ascertain gaps in knowledge and/or work on information supplied by your child’s school.
I can work on a mixture of 11plus verbal and non-verbal reasoning, plus appropriate level Maths and English - or specialise in one area.
